Scott Hamilton CARES Initiative in Skates Suppliers Directory

The Scott Hamilton CARES Initiative CARES was founded in 1999 as a partnership between Scott Hamilton, Olympic iceskating champion and cancer survivor, and the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center where he was treated. CARES was created to promote cancer awareness while raising significant funds for cancer research. Key components of CARES include 4th Angel Mentoring Program – designed to match newly diagnosed patients with trained volunteers who are also cancer survivors. Emphasizing oneonone contact, individuals are paired according to age and cancer type in an effort to empower both patients and volunteers with knowledge, awareness, and hope. In addition, the 4th Angel Caregiver Mentoring program is designed to match a caregiver of a cancer survivor to a current caregiver of a cancer patient. A 4th Angel Caregiver Mentor uses herhis experience to help others cope with the difficult caregiver role.
